February 7, 2010

President’s Day is just around the corner (about a week away) and in honor of those who were involved in the founding of our nation we are getting a little historical today. Getting historical is usually better than getting hysterical, so we will save that for a Sunday when I am in the pulpit. In honor of those who wove a thread of God-honoring faith into our nation’s fabric, we have invited a historian to share with us this morning. Do not panic! You will learn something today.

Bill Federer is a native of St. Louis and a well-known researcher and author. His books about the faith of our founders have been a great blessing to me. His book America’s God and Country Encyclopedia of Quotations is a classic. That is just the beginning of books he has authored. We are blessed to have him this morning and it all fits into our plan of educating the present and future generation about the faith of past generations.

There are many special events and guests scheduled for 2010. Mark your calendar for Sunday evening March 14 as the Collingsworth Family returns for an evening of great worship. Life Action Ministries will be with us April 18 – 21 to lead our whole church (children through adults) in a “Thirst” conference. This is a revival effort that will feature approximately 25 adults and young adults working among us as we seek God for renewal.

Along with these activities we will be involved with Disciple Now and all the activities surrounding Easter. We will need your help to knock on 5,000 doors that are in the immediate area surrounding our church. This is a part of a nationwide witnessing effort called GPS (God’s Plan for Sharing.) Missouri Baptists are anticipating over 800,000 contacts during the month of March. We want to do our part. Set aside the morning of March 20 to help with this effort.

Your Servant in Christ,
Bro. Monte
