January 31, 2010

I have been studying the principals of pain and suffering in the life of a Christian lately, and I have found some very helpful truths. Some in our church family have struggled with job loss, health issues, relationship uncertainties, and other pressing matters. This has caused me to think about the benefits of pain and suffering. I know you will re-read that last sentence, and yes I did say the “benefits of pain and suffering.” None of us wants it. None of us like it. None of us wish it upon others. But the truth is none of us escape it. We really want life to go as we plan it, but it frequently doesn’t.

As Bro. Monte brings a message today from the Word, we will be challenged to think about the times when life just doesn’t go as we planned. As he leads us through the book of Matthew he will center today on “The Forgotten Beatitude.” What will we do with what life sends our way? Of this I am certain: it is great to know we have a Savior who cares.

There is a change on the platform. Do you see it? The choir loft has been greatly expanded and that means there is room for you! Mark invites any and all with an interest in lifting their voice to the Lord to give the choir a try. Great fellowship and great worship go hand-in-hand, so join the choir.

There will a very important Business Meeting tonight. Growth is again pushing at our sides and we have several opportunities to consider, so please be present for the meeting following tonight’s evening service.

Serving Him with you,
Bro. Pete
